The harvest is nearly upon us, adventurer. I can smell it. And soon the celebration of death---the death of crops, the death of leaves, the death of summer. It’s not such a bad thing, after all. I could do without all the hot air.
What better time for pleurants, or “weepers” as they might be called in English? In late medieval Europe, the most extravagant tombs were decorated with sculptures of anonymous mourners---a tradition which originated in France. Perhaps I could interest you in some of my resin pleurants for your castle? Their wrinkled robes cast such ominous shadows.
